FAQ's
About the Kits
Q: What exactly is a "Garden Planting Recipe Kit"?

A: Think of it like a meal kit, but for your garden! We provide a curated collection of UK-grown plants that look beautiful together, along with a professional planting plan (a "map" of where each plant goes) and a care guide. You just follow the plan and enjoy the results.
Q: Do the kits include the pots, raised beds, or compost?

A: To keep shipping costs low and give you flexibility, our kits include the plants and the digital design pack only. We do not supply the physical pots, wooden raised beds, or compost, but we provide clear instructions on what size containers or how much soil you’ll need.
Q: I’m a complete beginner. Will I be able to do this?

A: Absolutely! We designed these kits specifically for people who don't know where to start. If you can dig a small hole and follow a simple map, you can create a professional-looking garden.
Q: How do I know what plants I will be getting?

A: We have taken the guesswork out of gardening, by selecting plants for you that naturally work best together, as well as look good together. You choose the colour palette, and we will match plants to this colour scheme, using mostly cottage garden style perennials. Once you have placed your order, we will send you your digital planting guide and in this you will learn all about the plants that you will be receiving.
Choosing the Right Kit
Q: How do I know if I have a "Sunny" or "Shady" spot?

A: Generally, a "Sunny" spot receives more than 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. "Shady" spots receive less than 3 hours of direct sun or filtered light. If you aren't sure, watch your garden for a day or send us an email at hello@theinstantgardencompany.com, and we’ll help you choose!
Q: Will these plants come back every year?

A: Yes! We primarily use perennials. These are plants that live for many years. They may die back in the winter, but they will grow back bigger and better every spring.
Q: Are your plants safe for bees and butterflies?

A: Yes, we prioritize pollinator-friendly plants in all of our themes to help support local UK wildlife.
Q: Can I swap a specific plant in a kit?

A: Our kits are pre-curated for the best aesthetic and growth results, but if you have a specific allergy or a strong dislike for a certain flower, let us know at checkout and we will do our best to accommodate a substitution.
Delivery & Care
Q: Where do your plants come from?

A: We are proud to source our plants from high-quality nurseries in the UK. We then grow them on and look after them at Clare's home in Lincolnshire, and this ensures they are "garden-ready" and accustomed to the UK climate.
Q: What happens if a plant arrives damaged?

A: We take great care in packaging, but plants are living things! If any arrive damaged, please take a photo and contact us within 48 hours of delivery. We will arrange a replacement or refund for that item immediately.
Q: When is the best time to buy and plant my kit?

A: You can plant most of our kits year-round as long as the ground isn't frozen. However, Spring and Autumn are the ideal seasons. Check our website for "Pre-order" windows to get the best selection for the upcoming growing season.
Q: When will my delivery be?

A: Once you place your order, we aim to be in touch within three days to confirm your delivery date. We understand you might like to be prepared for the delivery, so we will give you plenty of notice and wherever possible, we will work around your dates and commitments.
Q: Do I need to plant my plants straight away?

A: The sooner, the better- but we understand you're busy. As long as you take the plants out of their packaging straight away and keep them well watered, they will happily live in their pots for a good couple of months. You can email us at hello@theinstantgardencompany.com at any time for any questions you might have about your planting kit.
